1. Wear a Well-Fitting, Non-Padded Bra
Avoid sports bras or padded bras while measuring. A lightly lined or unlined bra will give the most accurate measurement.
2. Take Your Band Size Measurement
Use a soft tape measure.
Wrap it firmly around your ribcage, directly under your bust.
Ensure the tape is parallel to the floor and snug (but not uncomfortable).
Round down to the nearest whole number if it's in between.
Example: 31.5" underbust = 31 ? try 30 band
3. Take Your Bust Size Measurement
Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your bust (usually over the nipples).
keep the tape comfortably snug but not tight or compressing.
tand naturally—don’t puff your chest.
Round to the nearest whole number.
Example: 38.5" bust = 39"
4. Calculate Your Cup Size
Use this basic UK sizing method (used by Panache and Freya):
Bust Measurement – Band Measurement = Cup Size Difference
Difference (in inches) Cup Size
1 A
2 B
3 C
4 D
5 DD (E)
6 E (F)
7 F (FF)
8 FF (G)
9 G (GG)
10 GG (H)
... ...
Both Panache and Freya use UK sizing, which differs from US sizing. Freya and Panache cup sizes go well beyond a G, so if you're in the D+ range, these brands will likely fit better than standard sports bras.
Sizing Tips for Panache and Freya Sports Bras
Panache Sports Bra (wired and non-wired)
True to size for band and cup, though some find the band a little snug (size up if you're between bands).
Excellent encapsulation support (separates and supports each breast individually).
Freya Active Sports Bra
May run a bit large in the cup for some.
Best for fuller busts needing serious support with compression + encapsulation.
Fit Checklist
Band: Should be snug and level all the way around. It provides 80-90% of support.
Cups: Should fully contain your breasts without spillage or gaping.
Straps: Should stay put without digging in.
Center gore (for underwired bras): Should lie flat against your sternum.
